MUSICAL Education and Activity
In the fifties, Ι studied classical guitar at the conservatoire “Ellinikon Odeion” and privately with master guitarist Gerasimos Miliaressis. In the sixties, I was a member of the well known Greek pop/jazz group “The Forminx”. In the seventies and eighties, in parallel with professional work as Chem. Engineer, I studied jazz harmony, improvisation and jazz guitar techniques, while maturing in the music culture. After retirement in 1998, I was self-taught on classical music Τheory, Harmony, Counterpoint, Composition and Orchestration. I also became familiar with the current Computer Music technology, built a home studio and started writing my own music, mostly classical (post-modern) and jazz. In November 2003 I succeeded in the entry exams of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki- Musical Studies Dept, where I studied Composition with Professor-Composer Christos Samaras, harmony, counterpoint and fugue with K. Tsougras, K. Siembis and V. Kitsos, and orchestration with Alkis Baltas. I received the composer’s diploma in July 2009 and became a member of the Greek Composers’ Union in 2011. I have composed more than 50 works in the last 15 years, with several distinctions and awards.
