Biography

Auznieks’ quintet “Piano” was featured in The New York Times as one of the week’s best classical music moments. His opera NeoArctic, co-written with British techno producer Andy Stott, won Danish Reumert Prize. 

Performed at The Walt Disney Concert Hall (Los Angeles), The Royal Danish Theatre, Beijing National Arts Centre, Shanghai City Theatre, Amsterdam’s Muziekgebouw, The Kitchen (NYC), Gaudeamus Muziekweek (Holland), American Music Festival (Albany, NY), MATA 2017 (NYC), his music has also been played by Sandbox Percussion (NYC), Antico Moderno (Boston), Yale Philharmonia, and Orkest de Ereprijs (Holland). Commissions include works for Aspen Philharmonic Orchestra, Latvian Radio Choir, Albany Symphony musicians (NY), Yale Percussion Group, and two concert-length works for Contemporaneous (NYC) and Sinfonietta Riga (Latvia).

Currently pursuing a Doctoral degree at the Yale School of Music, his most recent recognitions include a feature at UNESCO Rostrum of composers, fellowship from American Academy of Fontainebleau, and Aspen Music Festival’s Jacob Druckman Prize.
