Biography

Born 1971 in Göteborg, Sweden, living in Stockholm. Started playing the trumpet as a child and studied the trumpet at Kapellsberg, Härnösand. Later he became a student of  music and composition at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm (1997-2001), the College of Music in Örebro (2002-2007). His composition teachers include Gunnar Valkare and Anders Nilsson. He also studied composition with prof. Bernd Franke in Leipzig, Germany. Jonas work list encompasses pieces for orchestra and choir while favouring chamber music constellations strictly instrumental or combined with electronics in some form, the former being his preferred element.

"I try to deepen the perception of the music in the performance situation, creating a field of tension surrounding the notation, the interpreter and the listener, by exploring combinations of graphic, aleatoric and traditional notation and sometimes aspects of dramatising."
