Biography

Obtained his Magister in Musical Composition in the Hochschule für Musik Köln, Germany in1996 and has
been graduate in licenciatura musical in composition from the Facultad de Artes of the Universidad de Chile
since1993.
His academic formation as a composer was conducted by Cirilo Vila, Andres Alcalde in chile, Franco
Donatoni in Italy and Johannes Fritsch in Germany.
During the years 1994 and 1996 he carried out courses of improvement in composition with Brian
Ferneyhough, Mathias Spahlinger, Wolfgang Rihm, Karlhaeinz Stockhausen in the Internationale Ferienkurse
für Neue Musik in Darmstadt, Germany.
In the year 2010 takes the course of ensemble direction conducted by the Hungarian master Zsolt Nagy in the
Instituto de Música (IMUC) in Chile
In 2011 receives the National arts award ALTAZOR- Genre! classical music, for his piece “Parphe II” for
ensemble. In 1994 receives the award “Stipendienpreis”/ (grant prize) for the performance of his musical
piece “tres Micropiezas” for guitar, flute, violin, clarinet and cello in the Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue
Musik in Darmstadt, Germany.
Currently he works as a professor in the! Music Institute (IMUC), in the Magister in arts UC program
(programa de Magister en Artes UC) of the Pontificia Universidad Católica and as well in the Departament of
Music and Sonology of the Facultad de Artes from the Universidad de Chile teaching the courses of
Composition, Vocal Counterpoint, Organology, Orchestration and Instrumentation.
Since the year 2000 he has been director of the ensemble Taller de Música Contemporánea with which has he
released multiple pieces in Chile and abroad.
