Biography

Asia Ahmetjanova is Latvian composer, based in Lucerne, Switzerland. She is working in different compositional and conceptual genres, connected to sound, theatre, beats, texts; communicating and interpreting life’s situations through those. Her works were performed at such festivals and music series as New Music Days (Lucerne), Darmstädter Ferienkurse (Darmstadt), Laborneunzehn (Berlin), Sound Plasma (Berlin), Unerhört (Berlin) among others.
In Latvia her composition teacher was Imants Zemzaris, later in Switzerland – Dieter Ammann, Bernhard Lang, Enno Poppe, Wolfgang Rihm and Carola Bauckholt. Darmstädter Ferienkurse 2014 and Young Composers Academy in Tchaikovsky City 2016 had a great impact on her work, through the input from Raphaël Cendo, Fabien
Lévy, Oscar Bianchi, Dmitri Kourliandski and Carola Bauckholt. Asia Ahmetjanova is a member of Swiss new music ensemble called “Ensemble ö!” and a correpetitor at Hochschule Luzern - Musik.
