Japanese section annual repot 2005.

In spite of the bad financial situation, we could have 12 concerts in the 2005 fiscal year (from April, 2005 to March, 2006). They formed 2 concert series, that is, "Autumn Exhibition of JSCM 2005" (September to October) and "Exhibition of the Contemporary Music 2006" (March). Both the Exhibition were titled with the "Revival of human Voice", in particularly, the vocal pieces including the operas had be made light of. For both series we got subsidies from the Agency for Cultural 
Affairs and the Society for Administration of Remuneration for Audio Home Recording (SARAH).

In those concerts, many of pieces by the domestic composers, and as a concert in the "Exhibition of the Contemporary Music 2006", the "A Window to the world, focused on the WMD" was held on 1st March, 2006 as usual year. In that concert, 4 pieces from the Eastern Europe and 2 pieces of Japan, selected in WMD 2004 were introduced. The program was as follows;

Witold LUTOSLAWSKI: Partita
Vinko GLOBOKAR: Jenseits der Sicherheit
Alfred SCHNITTKE: String Quartet No.3
Takashi FUJII: The Floating Bridge of Dreams for guitar solo Makoto SHINOHARA: Fragmente Duo for tenor recorder and nijugen

For the next year, this will be concentrated on the Latin American pieces. (In the last year, this was centering around Asian composers.)

The 22nd JSCM Award for Composers was held on 19th October 2005 in Tokyo Operacity Ricital Hall in the "Autumn Exhibition 2005". This award was open to any nationality, any age and the jury had selected 4 works of Fimiko KIMOTSUKI, Kumiko OMURA, Mizue SHAPIRO, Akiko YAMANE as the finalists. Kumiko OMURA won this Award with her work "Blessed breath".

Our magazine "NEW COMPOSER Vol.6" was published in June 2005.
