THE ANNUAL REPORT OF THE ISCM POLISH SECTION 2003/2005

THE 11TH AUDIO ART FESTIVAL (Warsaw, 27-29 November 2003)

Since 2003 the Festival has a new artistic director � composer Jerzy Kornowicz. Following artists was presented during the festival: Kwartludium Ensemble, MW2 Ensemble, Jaros?aw Kordaczuk, Ryszard Latecki, Jan Pieni??ek, Teresa Nowak, Ireneusz Domaga?a, Franziska Baumann, and Tadeusz Wierzbicki. During the Festival was presented instrumental theatre, performance, installations and muliti media. Since 2003 the festival is combined with new event by our Society � The Sound Spaces.

EVENTS DURING THE �MUSICA POLONICA NOVA� 2004 FESTIVAL IN WROC?AW (Wroc?aw, February 2004)

During the festival in February 2004, our Society co-organised piano recital end one meeting � concert.

THE INTERNATIONAL ENCOUNTERS �TURNING SOUNDS 2� (Warsaw, 13-17 May 2004)

The main organiser of the event was Polish Society for Contemporary Music and the Deutcher Musikrat with co-operation of the British Council, the French Institute the USA Embassy, the Netherlands Embassy, the Slovenia Embassy, Red Bull Music Academy, and F. Chopin Musical Academy, Gallery Zach?ta.

The main aim of the event is to integrate contemporary music artist and DJ performers. During the event was 9 lectures, 8 workshops and 8 concerts, among others one orchestra by Bia?ystock Philharmonic. Lecturers and performers were from Austria, France, the USA, Lithuania, Hungary, Germany, the Netherlands, Slovenia, the Great Britain and Poland. 

THE KAZIMIERZ SEROCKI 9TH INTERNATIONAL COMPOSER�S COMPETITION 2004

In May 2004 the International Jury consisted of: Zygmunt Krauze � chairman (Poland), Hanna Kulenty (Poland/the Netherlands), Ana Lara (Mexico), William Kraft (the USA), and Richard Tsang (Hong Kong) awarded following compositions among 98 submitted:
Thoma Simaku (Albania/the Great Britain) for Plenilunio II per Orchestra d�Archi
Carlo Alessandro Landini (Italy) for Concerto da camera per 13 archi
Stefano Bonilauri (Italy) for Otto Variazioni for string orchestra.
David Mark Richey (the Great Britain) for Tableaux for string orchestra.

The prize winner concert was held in 6th of July in Warsaw with Polish Radio Chamber Orchestra conducted by Agnieszka Duczmal.

THE NEW BOARD OF THE SOCIETY

In November 2004 our society had the General Assembly. We changed our status and reduced the number of board members. It was elected the new board of the ISCM Polish Section:

Jacek Rogala, president (composer and conductor)
Maciej Zielinski, vice-president (composer)
Anna Dorota Wladyczka, general secretary (musicologist)
Marta Karska, treasurer (music manager)
Jerzy Kornowicz (composer)
Marcin P?oszka (lawyer).

THE 12TH AUDIO ART FESTIVAL/THE 2ND SOUND SPACES (Warsaw, 2-4 December 2004)

The artistic director is Jerzy Kornowicz. Following artists was presented during the festival: Anna J?drzejewska, Robert J?drzejewski, W?odzimierz Kotonski, Andrzej Dobrowolski, Krzysztof Penderecki, Eugeniusz Rudnik, Bogus?aw Schaeffer, Francois-Bernard Mache, Krzysztof Knittel, Jerzy Kornowicz, Ryszard Latecki, Tadeusz Sudnik, Tadeusz Wielecki, Mieczys?aw Litwinski, Arne Nordheim, Bohdan Mazuerk, Elzbieta Sikora, Bernard Kawka, Cezary Duchnowski, Agata Zubel and others. During the Festival was presented instrumental theatre, performance, installations, improvisation, music for tape, and muliti media. One of the main subjects of the festival was early electronic music done in the Polish Radio Experimental Studio.

THE 6TH EDITION OF THE 20TH and 21ST CENTURY MUSIC COMPETITION FOR YOUNG PERFORMERS 2005

The 6th edition of the competition will be held from in May 2005. Jury will consist of: Olga Szwajgier, Anna Dorota W?adyczka, Bogus?aw Schaeffer, Czeslaw Pa?kowski and Jacek Rogala.
