nyMusikk's central hub in Oslo focuses its productions around major collaborative projects and various dissemination concepts, in addition to the annual festival, Only Connect Festival of Sound. Information work and interest policy work in the contemporary music field are also central to our annual work.
In 2018 nyMusikk celebrated its 80 years since we were established in 1938. We celebrated the 80th anniversary with a concert relay from west to east in Oslo with artists such as Tanja Orning, Per Zanussi, Lene Grenager, Ellen Ugelvik, Hans-Kristian Kjos Sørensen, Sofia Jernberg, Agnes Hvizdalek, Trond Reinholdtsen and Jennifer Torrence. Works by Kåre Kolberg, Christian Blom, Pauline Hall, Vinko Globokar, Øyvind Maeland and Lene Grenager. We also took the opportunity to look back throughout our 80 years. New micro-works for social media where created by Norwegian composers of our time inspired by a historic moment in nyMusikks history.

We also presented nyMusikk Salong (concerts and a talk) with Elliott Sharp and with Tim Parkinson and James Saunders supported by Michael Duch. Collaborated with improfestival All Ears on their opening night with a program consisting of Joëlle Léandre, WeDoMagic and BSNU. A collaboration with Trondheim Jazzorcestra on a concert featuring Espen Reinertsen we made into a full evening program with Cikada Pianotrio and vocalists Agnes Hvizdalek and Sofia Jernberg in a duo. Together with the Ultimafestival and Kafé Hærverk we did a minifestival presenting works by the Finnish composer and musician Mika Vainio during the Ultimafestival. We also had a national tour within our network of local branches with Hellqvist/ Amaral and their project Impossible situations. Our festival Only Connect took place during to hot and intens days in Oslo 25- 26 of May. A total of 28 works were presented during the festival, of which 47% were female composers, 7 were premieres and 3 Norwegian premieres. Artists and composers such as Marina Rosenfeld, Gérard Grisey, SKRAP VI, Christina Kubisch, Carola Bauckholt, Joanna Bailie, Jeff Carey, Nynorsk messingkvintett, Oslo Sinfonietta, Jo Berger Myhre and Ólafur Björn Ólafsson together with Nadah El Shazly, amongst others.
