  • Please describe your organization’s activities over the past year, including concerts, commissions, collaborations, publications: 

    ISCM Latvia has a productive 2018 year. ISCM Latvia first delegate Anna Veismane attended General Assembly and ISCM World Music Days in Beijing. To enable of selected composer Andris Dzenītis to attend the World Music Days 2018 and the performance of his piece Trataka. Point Noir for string quartet, a travel grant from the Latvian State Culture Capital Foundation (SCCF) was applied for and granted as well as travel grant for first delegate of ISCM Latvia Anna Veismane. For the 2018 World Music Days in Beijing, work by latvian composer Andris Dzenītis Trataka. Point Noir for string quartet was selected and played by string quartet Mivos.
    In july a Call for Works was launched in order to compile a submission for the Call for Works for the 2019 Tallinn World Music Days. The jury consisted of three member as written in statutes – Andris Dzenītis (composer), Andris Vecumnieks (conductor, composer) and Maruta Rubeze (musicologist).

    Exhaustive article was written in Latvian music magazine ‘Music Sun’ (Mūzikas saule) about the WMD festival in Beijing.
    All these news were widely covered by Latvian media, including Latvian Radio, newspapers and highlighted the importance and actuality of the ISCM organization.
    Music connected with ISCM activities was broadcasted in Latvian Radio 3-Classic on 18 July 2018. Music by latvian composers - Gundega Šmite, Santa Bušs, Andris Dzenītis, Renāte Stivriņa, Baltic composers - Toenu Koervits, Maert-Matiss Lill, Justīne Repečkaite and Korean composer Isang Yun.
