    Israel Section Report for 2018
The Israel Composer is League, (ICL), functions as the Israeli national and representative section at the Asian Composers’ League, ACL; .the International Society of Contemporary Music, ISCM, and starting this year- of the European composer and songwriter alliance, ECSA.
The board members are: Dr Ayal Adler, Chairperson; Dr John Bostock Treasurer and Dr Amit Weiner, Secretariat.
This year we cooperated with various ensembles enabling our composers to submit and participate in wide range of possibilities. The process of selecting compositions for our concerts and projects is always through a pre-call for works, submitted anonymously and selected by an independent jury.
Among the participating ensembles were: Tel Aviv wind quintet; Tel Aviv saxophone Quartet; Mivos String Quartat ; Carmel String Quartet; the soprano Hila Plitman with the pianist Hagai Yudan; Alexander trio, and Meitar Ensemble.
Earlier in October, we opened the season with a small, Opening Season Festival , held for the first time. Within the three concerts we performed music from Israeli and international composers. Among the artists who participated in the festival were the marvelous Mivos string Quartet from New York and the guitarist Nadav Lev.
One of our major projections this year was to widen our collaborations with leading International Ensembles and Composer Unions abroad. In May 2018, we had a fruitful cooperation with the OEGZM organization in Austria: two concerts combining Israeli and Austrian were performed in Graz and Vienna by the local ensemble Zeitfluss and two concerts were performed in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem by Meitar Ensemble.
The Recording Project was successfully held during 2018, in which we recorded twelve new solo and chamber works of Israeli composers in various styles and aesthetics.
2018 also marks the 10th year of one of our main projects: Composers write for the Youth. It is one of ICL's major objectives to bring young players and their teachers closer into the realm of contemporary music. We cooperated with various Conservatoires and developed a program in which various pieces for solo, duo, trio and chamber ensemble were written especially for children. The composers within this project aim to write original compositions in a high artistic level while adapting to the children’s abilities. These composers worked together with the young performers and their teachers. .
Following to initiative from Tel Aviv Municipality, we recently started collaborating with a number of youth orchestras in the city and some of our composers wrote new pieces for them.
ICL has its own publishing house: Israel Music Center (IMC). During 2017, eighty - nine new pieces were published.
We are looking forward for the year 2019 with new ideas and creative projects ahead.
    With best wishes,
    Sincerely
    Ayal Adler, chairman
    Israel Composers' League
