  • Please describe your organization’s activities over the past year, including concerts, commissions, collaborations, publications: 

    In 2018 Estonian Composers´ Union (ECU) organized as a tradition, one of the oldest and biggest new music festivals in Estonia called Estonian Music Days, concerts in collaboration with Estonian leading musicians and collectives presenting music by Estonian composers from different eras took place in April 12 -19. The 2018 festival’s theme “Sacred”. Sacred in the widest, most beautiful and human dimension, from a blessed sacred feeling to a silent gratitude, from everyday holidays to uniqueness and miracle.
    For the third time, a sponsor from private sector, LHV Bank, supported a new composition award called Au-tasu with 5000 EUR to support new pieces. The LHV Bank in collaboration with the Estonian Composers’ Union founded the award Au-tasu to acknowledge the newest local classical compositions. All works that were premiered in the previous year (2017) were eligible to apply for the award. The LHV award was received by Erkki-Sven Tüür for his piece “Solastalgia”.
