Isao Matsushita (1951-2018)

We were very sad to learn of the recent passing, on 16 September 2018, of Japanese composer and conductor Isao Matsushita, who also served as president of the Asian Composers League as well as president of the Japan Federation of Composers, and has been a fixture on the international contemporary music scene for over four decades.

The Asian Composers Showcase was launched in 2013 by the Goethe-Institut together with the Tongyeong International Music Festival (TIMF), to promote the composition of New Music in North East Asia. For six years now, a total of twenty-five compositions by promising young composers have been premiered at TIMF.

Euskal Herriko Txistulari Elkartea calls for the Txistu Composition Contest 2018.

The objective of the contest is to promote the creation of pieces for txistu or its instrumental family.

The works must be composed for a maximun of six musicians. At least one of those, must use  a txistu or one of its instrumental family.
