Vittorio Fellegara died

 

 

 

 

Vittorio FellegaraOn July, 7 the Italian composer Vittorio Fellegara died. He was born in Milan in 1927. He studied with Luciano Chailly and graduated in composition in 1951 at the Music Conservatory "Giuseppe Verdi" in Milan after completing university courses in mathematics and physics. 1955 to 1956 he attended the "Ferienkurse für neue Musik" in Darmstadt. Secretary of the Accademia Filarmonica Romana from 1956 to 1959 and of the Italian Society of Contemporary Music (ISCM) from 1960 to 2004, he won the prize for his Requiem di Madrid at 1st ISCM International Composition Competition and was present at many Festivals of contemporary music. His music synthesizes avant-garde elements with features of postwar Italian realism, connecting both with Nono and Petrassi.
