Reinhard Oehlschlägel (1936-2014)

We are very sad to note the passing of our honorary member Reinhard Oehlschlägel in Cologne on April 29, 2014.

In the words of John Davis, our former president: “A true champion of contemporary music, Honorary Member of ISCM, fierce advocate, passionate about so much music. His MusikTexte magazine documents so much contemporary music from around the world. What a legacy he leaves, which we all benefit greatly from.
So many memories - firstly the fierce battles in many ISCM General Assembly session, Reinhard passionately advocating an issue, causing all to reflect and reconsider. I also recall him in a recording studio booth in Cologne in 1994, following the score whilst Carl Rosman nailed Ferneyhough, Reinhard nodding, and quietly saying "he is good!" It meant far more than the quiet way it was spoken might suggest....”

The thoughts of the ISCM are with Gisela Gronemeyer.
