In a close co-operation between the ISCM Canadian Section, the ISCM Netherlands Section and several Canadian new music organisation, two festivals will take place in Canada in April 2014. During these events Dutch and Canadian musicians join forces in studying and performing works by Dutch, Canadian and international composers:



2014/02/26-03/02 The third international Dutch Harp Festival





The theme of The third international Dutch Harp Festival is Storytelling, acknowledging and featuring the harpist’s original task as storyteller and news bringer. The Dutch Harp Festival created a revolution in 2010 with its special programming and combination of a competition and a festival. Young harpists from around the world compete for a place in the finals, in which the harp as a solo instrument takes centre stage.



2014/07/17-07/21 Tanglewood Festival of Contemporary Music





2014/07/17-07/21 The 2014 Festival of Contemporary Music, under the direction of John Harbison and Michael Gandolfi, will present programs featuring works by American composers, with a special emphasis on music from a younger generation of Americans, many of whom have been Fellows at the Tanglewood Music Center.

2014/02/15 The 6th International Competition and Festival of Soloists and Chamber Groups Svirél between March 28 and April 13, 2014 will inspire with its young participants in the castle of Štanjel in Karst Region a special artistic atmosphere. Hoping to offer the most promising Slovenian and foreign musicians the best, the organizational team of Svirél constantly tends to raise the quality of the competition so it could become more and more attractive – for musicians of almost every instrument.

2014/07/04-07/17 The soundSCAPE festival (composition and performance exchange) is accepting applicants for its 2014 (10th) season, July 4-17, Maccagno, Italian Alps. Composers and performers from around the world participate in 2 weeks of intensive work in performance/composition, career development, collaboration, improvisation, and participate in lessons, lectures, master classes, and workshops with some of today’s preeminent performers and composers of contemporary music.
