Commission new works by Australian and New Zealand Composers - Funding available





Australasian rights management organisation APRA AMCOS is offering A$100,000 in grants for the commissioning of new works by Australian and New Zealand composers through the Art Music Fund. Applications are now being accepted from composers, and close on 21 February, 2017.

Open call for sets out to select one new sound installation (using sound as its primary medium, but which may or may not involve other media) and to present it during the 29th edition of the contemporary music festival Music Biennale Zagreb (from 21 until 29 April 2017). The open call is open for artists of all nationalities and ages. The work must be new, not presented before. 2017 Composition Competition of the Fribourg International Festival of Sacred Music





The instrumental work should be inspired by the painting “Vanitas - Still life with skull” (Vanitas - Stillleben mit Totenkopf) by Sebastian Stoskopff (1597-1658) which is part of the Kunstmuseum Basel (Switzerland) collection; a photo of the painting can be found at the end of this brochure. The submitted composition must be exclusively for: • 1 viola, 1 bassoon, 2 trombones (T + B), 2 timpani, 1 harp ; for a six-person instrumental ensemble.



International Composition Competition for Junior String Quartet dedicated to the memory of Piero Farulli





Applications are open for the International Composition Competition for Junior String Quartet dedicated to the memory of Piero Farulli, viola of the legendary Quartetto Italiano and founder of the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole. The aim of the competition is to increase and enrich the virtually non-existent repertoire for young and very young players of stringed instruments, who will be encouraged and enabled to play music together using contemporary musical language.



the 2017 Robot Keyboard Prize





In 2017, for the first time, the UnCaged Toy Piano (US) and Conlon Foundation (NL) will collaborate on a joint call for submissions for the 2017 Robot Keyboard Prize. For this year’s competition, we are seeking adventurous new works for Ranjit Bhatnagar's midi-controlled Robot Toy Piano. Innovative ways of integrating electronics are encouraged, but not mandatory.








Overwhelming minimal music, wringing soundscapes, experimental electronics, post-pop, electro-acoustic crossovers: all this can be heard from 6 – 10 September during Gaudeamus Muziekweek in Utrecht.



Malta International Choir Festival Composition Competition





In 2017, the Ministry for Tourism and the Malta Tourism Authority will be holding another edition of the Malta International Choir Festival between 2 and 5 November. As part of the structural components of the festival the organising committee is pleased to launch the 2nd edition of the Malta International Festival Composition Competition. The aim of this competition is to choose the best composition that will be performed and recorded during the festival.



Open Call – Forecast





From October 1 to November 30, 2016, creative minds from anywhere in the world working in vari- ous disciplines may submit their proposals. Forecast will invite 30 applicants to discuss their ideas and present them to the public at the HKW during the Forecast Forum from March 27 to April 1, 2017. At the end of the Forecast Forum, the six mentors will each select one concept, which they will accompany to fruition.



Tenso Young Composers Workshop 2016-2017





Composers under 30 (born in or after 1986), or composers who have recently (after 1 July 2013) received a degree in composition at a music academy or conservatory. The workshop is not restricted to European citizens, but non-European applicants should show a clear and sustainable connection to European music life. A jury will select five or six composers will be invited to join us in Amsterdam (the Netherlands) from 24 to 27 November 2016 for the Tenso Days Amsterdam.
