Unyazi IV: NewMusicSA and JSCM Collaboration, Johannesburg 2014

Description:

The project is a unique collaboration between ISCM sections: NewMusicSA and the JSCM. Previous Unyazi’s involved international performers with great success and lasting relationships forged but this edition is centred on creative relationships between South Africans and composers from a specific world region: South East Asia and Australasia. Japan is our focus/hub but other countries including South Korea and Australia are also represented. Also new is an extended creative residency between JSCM member Tomoko Momiyama and SA artists. Its culmination will be a festival performance: the seed of a strategic relationship/outward-looking focus from South Africa to Asia.
